TRAINING IN DUBAI
Last week I had the good fortune to attend “The Training & Development Show ME 2012” in the beautiful and friendly city of Dubai, UAE (December 4-5). This was the first of its kind in the Middle East — and it was a big success.
Technology training has certainly gone global! And, coincidentally, it was also the 41st birthday of the UAE!
A large number of vendors were present from Europe, Africa, Australia, the United States and, of course, from the Middle East. Attendance was excellent for a first event and the many seminars and presentations were, for the most part, crowded with attendees.
ITC Learning was represented as one of the vendor-partners in The Human Capital Management Solutions’ (The HCMS) booth. Other HCMS partners included: Video Arts (UK), Protomation (The Netherlands), Speexx (Germany), and InterAction Training (Australia). As you can see, a truly worldwide participation of leading training companies.
The Human Capital Management Solutions (The HCMS):
“provides training solutions and services for the following industries in the Middle East: Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Utilities, Government, Medical, Financial, Leisure & Commercial — (helping) organizations understand, identify and provide solutions to strategic, technical, and cultural issues of Organizational Learning Transformation.”
Video Arts, celebrating 40 years in the training business:
“produces and distributes high quality video and e-learning courses to help (its customers to) put across (their) learning messages in an entertaining and memorable way. The company is famous for intelligent, entertaining and straight-talking training.”
Protomation is a simulations training company that specializes:
“in industrial process control, process simulation, process optimization, process automation, process information and process modeling” — and, “renders technical services for the oil, gas and chemical industry and production facilities.”
Speexx, a blended learning organization, offers an:
“award-winning language learning platform (which) provides (an) organization with the perfect combination of mobile and online collaboration tools, engaging courseware and live expert coaches.”
offerings include courseware in Human Resources, Compliance and I.T. Applications as well as an award-winning LMS (PULSE) and the most user-friendly — and, powerful — authoring tool (Adrenaline) I’ve yet seen.
In addition to visiting with so many interested attendees at The HCMS stand, I was privileged to present my thoughts on “the state of e-Learning today” in a session on December 5. Those remarks will be the Thursday blog.
Finally, it was my third trip to the Middle East in the past two years. Each time it has been a joyful and stimulating experience. I look forward to a fourth visit before too long.
