Prerequisites: This program is designed for personnel with no formal training in the maintenance crafts. It can also be used by more experienced personnel to review proper tool selection and safe tool usage.
Description: This comprehensive DVD training program covers the selection and use of hand tools commonly used in the maintenance crafts. This program shows typical jobs using vises, clamps, screwdrivers, hammers, wrenches and pliers.
Course 2 – Hand Tools – Part 2
Prerequisites: This program is designed for personnel with no formal training in the maintenance crafts. It can also be used by more experienced personnel to review proper tool selection and safe tool usage.
Description: This comprehensive DVD training program covers the selection and use of hand tools commonly used in the maintenance crafts. This program shows typical jobs using snips, hacksaws, files, chisels, taps, dies, reamers and portable electric power tools.
Course 3 – Measuring Instruments
Prerequisites: This program is designed for persons that are familiar with common and decimal fractions, reducing common fractions to their lowest terms and conversions between decimal and common fractions. Addition of decimal fractions is also required. While the theory of the vernier scale may be useful, the reading of the vernier instruments can be taught directly with this module.
Description: This comprehensive DVD training program covers the most commonly used measuring instruments and shows how to use them to obtain precision readings. This program focuses on the steel rule, vernier caliper, micrometers, telescoping and thickness gauges and dial indicators.
Course 4 – General Shop Practices – Part 1
Prerequisites: This program is designed for persons who are familiar with basic hand tools.
Description: This comprehensive DVD training program covers the basic operation, maintenance and safety techniques used with general shop machines. This program shows typical jobs to illustrate the proper ways to operate and maintain the drill press, grinder and band saw. This program also covers blank flange layout, drilling pilot and finished holes and counterboring rectangular plate layout.
Course 5 – General Shop Practices – Part 2
Prerequisites: This program is designed for persons who are familiar with basic hand tools.
Description: This comprehensive DVD training program covers the basic operation, maintenance and safety techniques used with general shop machines. This program shows typical jobs to illustrate the proper ways to operate and maintain the drill press, grinder and band saw. This program also covers grinding wheels, grinding soft metals, tool sharpening and installing a wire brush wheel.
Course 6 – General Shop Practices – Part 3
Prerequisites: This program is designed for persons who are familiar with basic hand tools.
Description: This comprehensive DVD training program covers the basic operation, maintenance and safety techniques used with general shop machines. This program shows typical jobs to illustrate the proper ways to operate and maintain the drill press, grinder and band saw. This program also covers inspecting horizontal band saw, cutting aluminum, installing and removing blades and cutting stainless steel using the work stop.
Course 7 – Mechanical Print Reading
Prerequisites: This program is designed for persons who are familiar with the use of hand tools and general shop practices.
Description: This comprehensive DVD training program covers the different lines and symbols used on various types of blueprint drawings. This program focuses on visible and hidden lines, sectional views, dimensions, isometric drawings and orthographic projections and written information.
Course 8 – Rigging and Lifting – Part 1
Prerequisites: This program is designed for persons who are familiar with the nomenclature and uses of basic hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
Description: This comprehensive DVD training program covers the proper use of rigging and lifting equipment, including hand-operated hoists, overhead cranes, forklifts, ladders and scaffolding. This program shows the various pieces of equipment being used to lift and move equipment throughout a plant and focuses on hand-operated hoists, sling inspection, lifting equipment installation and rigging disassembly and review.
Course 9 – Rigging and Lifting – Part 2
Prerequisites: This program is designed for persons who are familiar with the nomenclature and uses of basic hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
Description: This comprehensive DVD training program covers the proper use of rigging and lifting equipment, including hand-operated hoists, overhead cranes, forklifts, ladders and scaffolding. This program shows the various pieces of equipment being used to lift and move equipment throughout a plant and focuses on an introduction to overhead travelling cranes, performing an operational inspection of overhead travelling cranes and lifting a long, balanced load.
Course 10 – Rigging and Lifting – Part 3
Prerequisites: This program is designed for persons who are familiar with the nomenclature and uses of basic hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
Description: This comprehensive DVD training program covers the proper use of rigging and lifting equipment, including hand-operated hoists, overhead cranes, forklifts, ladders and scaffolding. This program shows the various pieces of equipment being used to lift and move equipment throughout a plant and focuses on inspecting a mobile crane, rigging, lifting and transporting various loads using a mobile crane and removing, unstacking and stacking pallets using a forklift.
Course 11 – Rigging and Lifting – Part 4
Prerequisites: This program is designed for persons who are familiar with the nomenclature and uses of basic hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
Description: This comprehensive DVD training program covers the proper use of rigging and lifting equipment, including hand-operated hoists, overhead cranes, forklifts, ladders and scaffolding. This program shows the various pieces of equipment being used to lift and move equipment throughout a plant and focuses on components of ladders and ladder selection, inspecting and using a single and extension ladder and climbing and lowering an extension ladder.
Course 12 – Bearings and Lubrication – Part 1
Prerequisites: This program is designed for persons who are familiar with the nomenclature and uses of basic hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
Description: This comprehensive DVD training program covers the procedures for servicing, inspecting, lubricating, disassembling, and reassembling plain journal bearings, anti-friction journal bearings and thrust bearings. This program focuses on an introduction to bearings, disassembling and inspecting a plain journal bearing, performing a bearing contact check and assembling a plain journal bearing.
Course 13 – Bearings and Lubrication – Part 2
Prerequisites: This program is designed for persons who are familiar with the nomenclature and uses of basic hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
Description: This comprehensive DVD training program covers the procedures for servicing, inspecting, lubricating, disassembling, and reassembling plain journal bearings, anti-friction journal bearings and thrust bearings. This program focuses on an introduction to anti-friction journal bearings, maintenance of tapered roller bearings in a gear type speed reducer, removing a shaft and bearing from a gear reducer and removing the bearing inner ring from the shaft.
Course 14 – Bearings and Lubrication – Part 3

Description: This comprehensive DVD training program covers the procedures for servicing, inspecting, lubricating, disassembling, and reassembling plain journal bearings, anti-friction journal bearings and thrust bearings. This program focuses on an introduction to thrust bearings, disassembling and inspecting the thrust bearing assesmbly, final assembly of a tilting pad, oil film thrust bearing and bearing lubrication.
